A slight increase in the number of new associations

There was a slight increase in the number of new registered associations in 2023. At the same time, however, a decrease in the number of change and dissolution notifications was recorded compared to 2022.

The register contains the details of more than 100,000 associations and religious communities. Almost one third of them are located in Uusimaa, which is followed by Tampere Region and Southwestern Finland.

There are nine categories of registered associations, and culture and sports have been the most popular categories for many years.

There was a slight decrease in the number of new foundations in 2023 while at the same time, the number of annual reports submitted by foundations increased.

Registered new associations

There was an increase in the number of new associations: In 2023, we registered 2,004 new associations compared to 1,909 in 2022.

Notifications of changes and dissolutions submitted to the Register of Associations

There was a slight decrease in the number of change and dissolution notifications: In 2023, they totalled 29,386 compared to 29,741 in 2022.

Registered new foundations

There was a slight decrease in the number of registered new foundations compared to 2022: In 2023, a total of 25 new foundations were registered compared to 28 in 2022.

Registered annual reports

The number of registered annual reports increased: In 2023, we registered 2,679 annual reports compared to 2,574 in 2022.
