A trademark is registered to protect business
More and more companies want to register a trademark to protect their business and reduce risks. This was indicated by a survey aimed at new trademark holders, which we conducted in September 2023 and March 2024. The total number of respondents was 151.
The companies that responded to the survey stressed the need to protect their own brands, thus distinguishing themselves from competitors and also to protect themselves from possible abuses. In the view of the respondents, the registration of a trademark also increases the credibility of the company. The launch of a new product was also an important reason for many to apply for a trademark.

Online trademark and design rights services reformed

The service reform was carried out as part of the cooperation between the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the network of EU national offices.

Campaign on intellectual property rights in the digital environment
In November 2024, we launched a communication campaign to raise awareness among SMEs and entrepreneurs of the importance of protecting intellectual property now and in the future. The campaign particularly highlights companies developing digital solutions and the intellectual property rights they utilise in their business.
The main funder of the campaign was the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The campaign was a continuation of the communication campaign focusing on design and design law implemented in autumn 2023.
