One of the five goals of the PRH’s strategy is to act in networks. We continued active cooperation with our stakeholders and promoted the effectiveness of stakeholder and network work in accordance with the strategic goal by various means.

The focus on Word Intellectual Property Day was on sustainable development
The World Intellectual Property Day is a special day observed annually by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Its purpose is to increase awareness of the role of intellectual property and intellectual property rights.
In 2024, the theme of the day was sustainable development. We celebrated the day by organising the event in cooperation with the University of Jyväskylä. At the event, intellectual property and intellectual property rights were approached, especially with focus on sustainable development, through speeches and company examples.

PRH a partner in the Vuoden uusyrittäjä 2024 competition
PRH was again a partner in the Vuoden uusyrittäjä competition for new entrepreneurs and participated in the award panel.
Entrepreneurs Lotta Nuppola, Petra Uosukainen and Heini Väätäinen from Akron Taika Oy, which provides coaching for Pirkkala-based acrobatic gymnastics, were selected as national New Entrepreneurs of the Year 2024. Marko Jokinen and Tuomo Kirjonen from Alavus, two entrepreneurs of Flat Out Trading Oy, which imports car accessories, received an honourable mention. Ari and Minna Putaala of Lattiapalvelu Royal Oy, which offers flooring and tiling work in Oulu, became the audience’s favourites.
The new entrepreneur of the year prize is awarded by the Association of Finnish Enterprise Agencies.
The prizes go to entrepreneurs whose business activities have been successful and who have started their companies with the help of an Enterprise Agency a few years earlier.

PRH employees were rewarded for their IPR work
In 2024, several PRH employees were rewarded for their work on intellectual property rights. The prizes were awarded in the IPR gala organised by the IPR University Center. The IPR University Center is a joint separate department of universities focusing on intellectual property rights.
The IPR University Center awarded the 2023 IPR Teko award to Jorma Lehtonen, PRH’s Customer Relations Manager. He is a teacher in charge of the IPR course at Aalto University and is active in various educational projects and working groups as well as a docent at the University of Tampere. Lehtonen also received the IPR flare carrier award awarded by the Association of Finnish Patent Attorneys for promoting the operating conditions and awareness of the IPR sector.
The award from the Finnish Association of Intellectual Property Administrators was awarded to Director Jorma Hanski and Head Legal Adviser Tuulimarja Myllymäki from the PRH. The award was awarded for cooperation with the association and for promoting the recognition of the work of IP administrators.

Serving in the quality innovation competition jury
Excellence Finland organised the Laatuinnovaatio quality innovation competition for the 17th time. Our Director General Antti Riivari served as the main judge in the 2024 competition. The PRH is a long-term partner of the competition, and we have supported the competition by, for example, patent advisory services and training.
Elisa Corporation won the 2024 competition with its solution for combating scam calls. Metsä Group received second place with its renewing forest management model. Honourable mentions were given to the planning system of the Espoo City Library and Winlaw Group Ltd’s digital platform for legal administration processes.
The jury selected the winners and the recipients of the honourable mention from six finalists. The competition entries emphasised service innovations that responded to current challenges, focusing on customer orientation, ecological sustainability and responsibility.
